Nautilus Sport Series T5.18 LE-X Treadmill Review

Nautilus Sport Series T5.18 LE-X Treadmill
Average Reviews:

I bought a brand new Nautilus T518 in June 2009.I used it consistenly (12 - 15 miles per week) for 7 months and it STOPPED working. The internal circuit breaker would flip and the power would cut out.

The retail store sent out a repair guy and determined the transformer was overheating. They ordered a new controller board from Nautilus.Three weeks later the part finally arrived and the service guy installed it.After running on it for 5 minutes the same problem happened.

This machine is junk and the manufacturer doesn't care how long it takes to send out replacement parts.

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.
From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.
While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Epic T60 Treadmill Review

Epic T60 Treadmill
Average Reviews:

I've run about 400 miles on mine over the course of a few years, with no serious problems. The tread is made from high quality rubber, the machine is very stable, the 60 inch tread length is great, and it's easy to adjust the tread (left or right a centimeter or so, maybe every 100 miles) with a supplied allen wrench. Here are the minor issues I've encountered:
1. It is very difficult to move. You have to lift about 100 pounds just to roll it in a very limited manner.
2. It doesn't beep anymore (to indicate events like power on, or setting the speed to 10MPH, etc.).
3. The pulse measuring feature doesn't work very well. It measures my pulse too quickly (within 3 seconds), or not at all, and as a result it is not very accurate or consistent.
4. It measures distance incorrectly at the very start-- If I start from rest and click 10MPH, the reported distance increases as if I am going 10MPH immediately, while the actual speed is climbing up to 10MPH over the course of about 15 seconds. In other words, it reports I run a mile in exactly 6 minutes when really the first 15 seconds were at a slower pace.
5. The aluminum panel at the front end of the tread is flimsy. I stepped on it twice while running, almost destroying the panel on one occasion. It is now a bit warped and it almost touches the tread. I've learned to avoid it, which is easy when you have 60 inches to work with.

So hot in Florida so decided to get a treadmill. I paid extra to have their delivery men assemble it,which was fast and also they made sure it was working properly.Well worth the extra $200.
So far I am very pleased and am sticking to my goal of running 3 miles a day.
It was a toss up between this newer treadmill model and the Sole F80 and reviews were strong for both. Very pleased with my choice.I am a personal trainer and have used more expensive treadmills.I think this is a great buy if you're tired of running/walking in the heat!!

Nordic Track Professional Series 4000 Treadmill

I purchased a Nordictrac treadmill and (wisely, I thought) purchased an extended warranty through UTS (Universal Technical Services). Their website is [...]

The treadmill was not working correctly. The walking track was catching/sticking. After weeks of delays and back orders, they told me that they were not honoring the warranty. I am still unsure as to the reasoning as they have not provided an explanation that would legitimately give them a reason to not honor the warranty, which still has a year left on it.

I am unable to recommend Nordictrack or their extended warranties and UTS. A compnay and their products are only as good as the guarantee and the honesty to which they honor their guarantees.

LifeSpan Fitness TR1000-TV Folding Treadmill with 7-Inch Flat-Panel LCD TV Review

LifeSpan Fitness TR1000-TV Folding Treadmill with 7 inch Flat-Panel LCD TV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I dreaded two things about this machine when I ordered it.

Having to put it together and the size and performance of the 7" tv screen.

The dread was unecessary.

Pro's: The unit came already assembled and arrived in a fold down position. The only thing I had to do was put in a few holding bolts and attach the unit that held the tv and controls for the machine. The entire unit was up and running in less than 20 minutes.

I hooked up my Direct TV to the unit and the sound and picture quality was excellent. I was very surprised.

The unit is very sturdy and well made

Very quiet operation

The options that are built in include different modes such as distance traveled, calories burned, laps, heart rate etc.

There are tons of pre-set exercise options that can be accessed by the touch of preprogrammed buttons.

You can adjust the speed and incline by very convenient buttons located on each handle

Nice magnetic security feature with a magnetized lock that you can click on to your shirt....if you fall the magnetized lock seperates from the machine and it stops immediately.
Cons:

This unit is VERY heavy...300 lbs. It did help that the unit has built in wheels...but it will take two people to move this unit to where you wish to store it.

The TV is great...but the control counsel it sits on is a prefabricated, molded plastic that cannot be adjusted once installed making the angle of the tv such that the screen appears dark if you are not walking near the front of the unit. So unless you are very tall...you need to move up a to the front of the tread mill belt, walking more closely to the front of the unit instead of the middle to see the screen clearly. The TV should have been on some sort of swivel or pivot. It's a bit annoying but not a deal breaker.

I was fortunate to have the proper cables to connect my Direct TV satelitte to the unit..the unit comes with no connecting cables for TV, VCR , DVD etc.

Overall...it's a great machine for the money. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the tv angle and the weight of the machine.

Product Description:
This easy-to-use, high-quality treadmill from LifeSpan Fitness is loaded with features designed specifically to meet the needs of walkers. Among the treadmill's most popular functions are speed and incline buttons on the handlebars, which let you adjust the speed and incline without removing your hands; eight compression shocks in the deck suspension to evenly absorb the impact of the foot strike while providing a firm pushoff at the end of each step; and several preset programs that make it easy to vary the incline and distance as you walk. Add them all up and you have an ideal treadmill for home workout enthusiasts.

The treadmill's console includes a built-in 7-inch, high-def LCD TV.LifeSpan knows that workouts can sometimes be tedious, which is why the company built a 7-inch, high-definition LCD TV into the console. Now you can jog along to your favorite TV show, whether it's a daytime soap, a basketball game, or a music program. The cable-ready TV also offers AV inputs and outputs, so you can hook up a DVD player or other video source in addition to a cable line. And unlike with most other TV treadmills, the TV component isn't connected to the treadmill itself. In other words, if something ever happens to the TV console, the treadmill will still operate--a feature that many mass merchant treadmills don't offer.
The TR1000-TV is also outfitted with a variety of workout programs--including six incline, five speed, and two custom programs--each of which is designed by an exercise physiologist to help you achieve a weight loss, exercise, or health-related goal. The My Zone heart rate program, meanwhile, monitors your heart rate and automatically adjusts the speed and incline to keep your intensity consistent throughout the workout. Best of all, it's easy to track your workout progress thanks to the large blue backlit display, which shows calories burned, workout time, current speed, current incline, heart rate, and distance traveled.
Other features include a 2-horsepower continuous-duty motor that supports speeds of up to 0.6 to 10 miles per hour, a 2.4-inch front roller that provides a smooth walking performance, and a high-quality running belt with a wax and silicone lubricant blend that minimizes belt friction and provides long-term protection against belt wear and tear. Finally, the TR1000-TV includes an EZ Drop folding system, which makes the treadmill easy to store.

One day I found out that my husband had inadvertently broken my old Weslo treadmill. Great. He actually "ran" on it. Now what was I supposed to hang my clothes on? After decided to replace it, we visited three local stores: Sports Chalet, Sports Authority and Sears. It's important to physically try out a treadmill before you buy it, and this Esprit ET-8 treadmill was the ONLY one that stood out to me in our price range. It's super quiet, has great cushioning, and can handle my intense strolling as I sip cocktails while watching horror movies. My husband uses it more vigorously, as nature intended. It has fit programs, nice incline, large deck, heart rate monitor, red LCD, magazine rack, and a fancy way of lowering itself (not unlike an electric convertible top). Did I mention how quiet it is? And how cushiony? I honestly think that it's nicer than the bulkier treadmills at the gym, which can tend to be occupied or out of service. By going through Sports Chalet, we were able to pick it up for under $1000 (including tax) on sale. (I recommend getting as much extended warranty as you can afford). It was delivered and set up the next day in half an hour. Note: You'll need the space to accommodate it. It's no space saver, by any means. Folded, it sticks out from the wall about 34". This is a heavy duty treadmill that won't need to be upgraded. We're really happy with it.

We have owned this treadmill for about a year and it is just great. It is extremely well made andthe Smooth Fitness Company's Customer Service is one of the best that I have ever dealt with. We had a cracked handle and a few blemishes on the frame from shipping and they came out right away and replaced it free of charge. I have found this treadmill to be one of the best investment that I have ever made, and with it's warranty and performance. I am more than happy with it.

Product Description:
Step up your training with the convenient and affordable EVO FX30 folding treadmill, which offers a 2.75 HP continuous duty motor and large 20 x 54-inch treadbelt. The innovative motion control enables you to adjust the speed of the machine without ever touching a button--just wave or hold your hand over a light beam on the handrail to decrease or increase speed. This treadmill also offers the exclusive EVO Swing Arm shock absorption system, which is designed to minimize the impact from running and walking.
Swing Arm Shock Absorption
Give your joints a break. A proper running surface is a necessity for injury free exercise. According to a clinical study of 4,000 runners, one of the five leading causes of injury is an improper running surface. The exclusive EVO Swing Arm shock absorption system is designed to minimize the impact from running and walking. Users who have had a history of lower back pain, shin splints, or degenerative knees will benefit from Swing Arm technology lessens the impact on these areas of the body. Instead of the impact sending the shock through your body, the impact is dispersed through the swing-arm, deck, and frame of the treadmill, creating a smooth, fluid walk or run with greatly reduced impact.
The custom design allows for a soft, forgiving foot landing on the front of the belt, while providing a firm push-off from the rear, providing an ideal surface that reduces impact and relieves pressure on your lower body muscles and tendons, in addition to your lower back.

With the Motion Control feature, you can control the speed of your treadmill without ever touching the machine. Motion Control
A common complaint by treadmill users is the off-balance experience of adjusting the speed, which generally requires reaching forward while you are in motion and pressing a button on the console. Not only do you have to awkwardly lean forward as you run, but you also have to visually focus on the board. This EVO treadmill includes the newly patented Motion Control feature, which enables you to control the speed of your treadmill without ever touching the machine. By waving or holding your hand over the side rails you can increase or decrease the speed (right side rail for increase; left side rail for decrease). You can stop by holding both hands over the side rails simultaneously.

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill Review

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill
Average Reviews:

I have had this treadmill for a few weeks now and have been very happy with it.It's very sturdy and has a lot of features for a home treadmill. The comments I list below fall into the category of "just be prepared for" and mainly involve the delivery process.

One caveat I have is that this machine is *heavy*.My delivery guy brought it into my garage and despite my attempts to have him put it just inside a room off the garage, no dice.I had to have the help of a very strong guy to move the treadmill where I wanted it.The good news is that after that, it was a piece of cake to put together, involving about 30 big screws and took exactly an hour (probably could have taken even less time).

This treadmill is supposed to fold up, but I can't imagine ever using that feature -- for one, it's too heavy and two, it's so big it's not like you could really hide it anywhere. These are not complaints -- the fact that the machine is big and heavy translates into sturdiness and a larger running surface.

Finally, there's no instant gratification when you click the Purchase button online.Be prepared for this item to take up to a month to be delivered. It's worth the wait, though!

I bought the Sole F63 a few weeks ago. It's my first treadmill.I should mention that I got a great price on this unitat Dick's.It was on sale for $999, but the floor model had a small sticker on it that said $849.99 (which was clearly marked as the price for the '08 model). When I pointed the sticker out to the salesperson, he offered to sell me a new 2009 unit at that price, so I jumped on it.Otherwise, I had planned to order it from the factory and save the sales tax!Having said that, I think this is a very nice treadmill, even for $999.It's not without its issues, though.

First and foremost, this unit is very sturdy.I weigh 170 lbs and run for 1/2 hour at a time and average 5.5 - 6 mph, so I'm not exactly stressing the treadmill, but to me it seemsextremely sturdy (actually, the unit I tried in the store seemed much less stable than the one I bought.)The console doesn't have any visible shake to it and the deck is also very stable. The deck has adjustable feet to compensate for an uneven floor (which I have).

It's not exceedingly quiet, but I can easily hear my iPod using the built-in speakers, or my nearby TV.The speakers are adequate, as are the fans, although neither are great.

I chose this model over the F80 for several reasons.First off, although the F80 has a slightly larger motor, there is a lifetime warranty on the motor, so who cares? The motor seems more than adequate for someone my size. The belt seems a little slow to get going, which may be a drawback of this size motor.Second, I didn't like the F80's LED display, which I found very difficult to read in the store. The F63 has a bright blue LCD display which is very easy to read. And lastly, the F80 has heartrate control programs, but I had read that the included heartrate monitor was not very reliable, so I didn't want to gamble on that feature.Imagine my surprise when I found the F63 also has heartrate control programs built in!They are not advertised, but they are there, and they are explained in the manual.Unfortunately, I couldn't get them to work very well. The chest strap heartrate monitor, which comes with the treadmill, works fine. But the heartrate program went for several minutes at a very slow speed, at which point I gave up.Perhaps they work if you have more patience, but they didn't work for me.Suffice it to say, you should not go for the F80 just for this particular feature, if it's anything like the the F63!

A few other minor complaints:
1.The included programs have much too large a speed range for my liking. They can go from 2 mph to 6 mph, which (for me) ranges from slow walking to running very fast.I'd rather have more subtle steps in my programs. The F63 does allow you to create two custom programs, with separate speed and incline profiles.I use them almost exclusively.

2. The cupholder/accessory tray is so low and far forward as to be useless. If you are a child or are 5' tall, maybe you can reach them while running or walking. For me, at 6' 2", I can't reach my water bottle without hitting my head on the console!Fortunately, there are two accessory holders up higher which work fine for water bottles.

3.The heartrate handles, similarly, are too low and far forward for running.

4.Assembly was somewhat tricky, and I assemble equipment for a living!Plus, it weighs a ton - plan on having two strong people to move it in.

Some of the good things:
1.As I said, the unit is very stable, and does its job.Whether you run or walk, this treadmill does the basics well.It would not be out of place in a health club!Although the deck isn't the cushiest or quietest I've tried, it's not too bad.I believe the F80 is supposed to have a cushier deck, but I couldn't discern a difference in the store.

2.The fan and audio input/speakers are a nice touch, if not the highest quality.

3.The unit folds up and down very easily.

4.The price!I still can't believe I got such a high-quality machine for less than $1000.I tried many other units and found that I could have easily spent $2000 on a treadmill that isn't as nice as the F63.

If you are looking for a basic, reliable treadmill and don't require an absolute top-of-the-line unit, you'll be doing yourself a favor by trying the F63.I believe mine will be a long-lasting, reliable machine for years to come!

Life Fitness F3 Folding Treadmill with Advanced Console Review

Life Fitness F3 Folding Treadmill with Advanced Console
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this item a year ago. I liked the sturdy design and the advanced console. We use it mainly for morning excercise for approx 2 hours every day (6 - 8 miles a day). I have no problem with the actual treadmill itself but the "advanced" console is becoming a real issue. I called Life Fitness and had to replace the console. Reason: HR was going on and off and sometimes showing 50 HR a minute while running? I am not that fit to have such a low HR. This can potentially be very dangerous as you will be running and the HR is showing 120 while in fact you are at 170 HR per minute. The service person came, aknowledged the problem and requested a new console which was installed 3 months ago. This one seemed to be more reliable for a while but I have now the same issues as a few months ago. HR going on and off. I am walking at 3.5 miles an hours with an incline of 4 and after while my HR disappears and appers again every few seconds and showing the incorrect HR. So if I touch with my hands the sensors I am seeing the correct HR but I cannot reply on the wireless strap. By the way the batteries in the strap are new. The service person game me 3 straps and they all have the same issue so it must be the console. Since this is happening constantly I cannot use the Cardio exercise program. This treadmill is almost US$ 3000 and the console itself is US$ 700. I believe the console has definitively a design flaw with probably some cheap wireless sensors in it. I hope Life Fitness will finally acknowledge the problem and resolve it once for all.

Random: Includes many different motivating combinations of hills and valleys.
EZ Incline/Resistance: Slowly and progressively increases resistance so you're less aware of the building demands.
Sport Training: Simulates outdoor training with a rigorous workout that features hundreds of different hills and valleys with a wide range of high and low levels of resistance.
Time-Based Goal and Distance-Based Goal: For a time specified by the user, this workout uses 1.5 percent incline as the baseline to accurately simulate running outdoors on flat ground. Anything below a 1.5 percent is then used to simulate running downhill. The inclines and declines last between 30 and 60 seconds. The goal of the workout is to help users train for outdoor running.
Fat Burn (HeartSync): A great workout for beginners or for those days when you need a lighter workout. Automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 65 percent of your theoretical maximum.
Cardio (HeartSync): Maximizes caloric burn and boosts your energy level. Automatically adjusts resistance to maintain your heart rate at 80 percent of your theoretical maximum
Heart Rate Hill (HeartSync): An interval workout made up of three hills with each hill becoming progressively more difficult based on your heart rate goals The first hill is 70 percent of your maximum heart rate (HRMax) and gets harder with subsequent hills. The valley is always defined as 65 percent HRMax. Similar to training for sports activities such as hockey, basketball, and soccer.
Heart Rate Interval (HeartSync): Climb a series of alternating hills (80 percent HRMax). The number of times you climb each hill depends on your fitness level. Similar to training for endurance activities such as triathlons and running.
Extreme Heart Rate (HeartSync): Quickly raises and lowers resistance to get your heart rate up to 85 percent HRMax and down to 65 percent as quickly as possible. Similar to training for sports activities such as tennis, racquetball, football, and sprinting.
Goal Workouts: Determine your workout goal--including distance, calorie-burn, or target heart rate--and exercise until you reach it.
Custom Workouts (includes 2): Create and replay a favorite program with specific speed, incline, level, and target heart rate changes.
Go System One-Touch Quick Start: The fastest route to working out since you don't have to choose a specific exercise program.
On-the-Fly Programming: Conveniently allows you to change programs without restarting or losing your current workout information.
Race Mode: Challenge yourself by racing against a computer simulated pacer.
Cool Down Mode: Based on your workout's specific time, incline, and heart rate level, this customized cool down ensures that your heart rate properly returns to normal level.

About Life Fitness
What started as one man's pursuit to improve his own physical condition, eventually turned into a global fitness revolution. That man was Keene P. Dimick, the mastermind behind the legendary Lifecycle® exercise bike. The story of Life Fitness began when two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nieto, saw the promise of Dr. Dimick's invention. Even though it was slightly ahead of its time, they believed the Lifecycle exercise bike could help generations of athletes, trainers, exercisers, and people everywhere live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Wilson and Nieto bought the rights to the Lifecycle bike from Dr. Dimick, perfected it, and sold it out of a motor home to health clubs across America. Despite the overwhelming odds and initial unpopularity of the Lifecycle exercise bike, the two passion-filled pioneers turned a two-man operation and a seemingly impossible vision into a prosperous reality. Along the way, they shaped the future of Life Fitness as well as the fitness industry, bringing cardiovascular training into the mainstream and helping ignite the health club boom.
Today, Life Fitness is the global leader in designing and manufacturing a full line of reliable, high quality fitness equipment for commercial and consumer use. It is the number one brand of fitness equipment in health clubs worldwide.

Smooth Fitness 5.65 Folding Treadmill Review

I received the 5.56 treadmill on 2/8/2010.I loved it until 3/18/2010 when sparks flew from under the deck. I immediately turned it off and unplugged it.I called Smooth Fitness immediately. They said USA Assembly would call me within 24-48 hours. They called the next day on 3/19/2010 to tell me that someone would call me with 24-48 hours.I never received that call or any other call from them regardless of any promises they make to call me back.It has now been 2 1/2 weeks and they are still searching for a service technician to work on it.

I am so disappointed.I am of average weight and used the treadmill for walking less than 30 times before it burned up -- not impressive! I purchased it based on the good reviews and the 2 year in-home warranty. The warranty doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't get someone to work on your machine.I couldn't in all fairness recommend this to anyone.

Also, be aware that if you live in a rural area the treadmill is "curbside" delivered by an 18-wheeler.The truck couldn't manage to get down our street.I was lucky that my husband was home and could use his trailer to meet the truck in a more accessible area.

Sole F80 Treadmill Review

Sole F80 Treadmill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I owned a Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill for a couple of years. It was repaired several times after suffering mechanical and electrical problems, but never again ran properly. After disappointing customer service with Bowflex (Nautilus), I replaced it with a Sole F80.When comparing my ownership experience with both treadmills, I recommend the Sole F80.

Bowflex Series 7:
a.20x60 running surface (better for tall runners)
b.3.0 hp motor gets belt to full speed in about 2-3 sec
c.no countdown before belt begins to move
d.stylish console, but not as easy to use
e.no speed or incline controls on handles (only on console)
f.metallic handrails (causes static electricity shock)
g.must tip/lean treadmill backwards to move (dangerous!)
h.warranty: 10 yrs motor, 2 yrs electronics, only 1 year labor

Sole F80:
a.20x55 running surface (good for most people)
b.3.0 hp motor gets belt to full speed in about 6-8 sec
c.3 sec countdown before belt begins to move
d.console not stylish, but functional and easy to use
e.speed and incline controls located on handles AND on console
f.hand rails covered with rubber compound for better grip
g.treadmill slides along ground without tipping or leaning
h.warranty: lifetime on motor, 5 yrs electronics, 2 years labor

Delivery of large box is supposed to be made inside front door or garage. Both times, I gave the delivery person a generous "tip" for their prompt delivery service, and both times the treadmill was generously brought down into my basement.Delivery drivers were quite pleasant both times.

Assembly for both treadmills was relatively easy and both treadmills took just under 2 hours to assemble (screwing in hand rails on BOTH treadmills can be tricky-need to make sure you don't puncture and/or pinch console wires!).All necessary tools were supplied for both.

The Bowflex Series 7 and Sole F80 both have powerful and quiet 3.0 hp motors.

The decks on both feel about the same when running/walking on them.Neither deck is "whisper quiet" when running on it.To me, the deck of the Bowflex Series 7 was slightly louder (a problem that became progressively worse during my ownership of the Bowflex Series 7).If you're a taller runner (over 6 feet tall) or run with a long stride, then the F80's deck may be a little too short for you (or course, Sole makes a longer treadmill for a few hundred dollars more). But for most of us who walk/jog/run on a treadmill, the Sole F80 is a very good size and fit.

I can see why hotels use the Sole F80 treadmill.First of all, the F80 has a much better warranty (about double of what Bowflex offers). Also, from a safety or "hotel liability" standpoint, the Sole F80's has better user-friendly features such as: (a) 3 sec countdown before belt begins to move (avoids surprises/injuries); (b) belt takes 6-8 sec to get to full speed (avoids surprises/injuries); (c) easy grip handles with rubber compound (remember: most people grab the handles when they get into trouble!); (d) speed/incline controls on console AND handles (really easy to use controls on handles when running or walking); and (e) no need to tip or lean treadmill backwards when moving (easy on your back, plus treadmill won't fall on you).

Had I done my homework the first time, I would have initially bought the Sole F80 instead of the Bowflex Series 7.Although the Bowflex Series 7 was highly recommended, it did not hold up well over time.If you are considering a folding treadmill for under $1,500.00, you should consider the Sole F80.

Good product.Great value.Great warranty.
