Body Solid Multi-Press Rack GPR370 Review

Body Solid Multi-Press Rack GPR370

I have very good things to say about Body-Solid. I have at least five of their pieces of equipment in my home exercise regimen. Their equipment is well-designed, with the user in mind, well-built, and, though made in China, is constructed with excellent quality control. It is, as they advertised, built to last a lifetime.

I received this machine by FedEx (about 180 lbs) in two boxes. Shipping costs are a factor in shopping for price on this rack. I got free shipping. I estimate the freight would be around $100.00.

It took me about two hours to fully assemble. The good news is that I was able to assemble the entire rack with only a 3/4" socket and a 3/4 " box wrench.

I think that who ever made the assembly instructions did not talk fully with the design engineers. This is really well-designed. The picture and the instructions show the racks on the outside of the vertical supports. It works fine if you assemble it this way. However, if you assemble it this way you can only use 7 foot olympic bars. I assembled it with the racks on the inside of the vertical supports.

You have to reverse the racks so the the numbering on the racks are on the inside, and, you have to reverse the safeties. However, with the racks and safeties reversed I can comfortably use a 6 foot olympic bar for curls, in addition to a 7 foot bar for bench presses and squats.

If you can obtain this at a decent price, including shipping, then it is a fantastic bargain. It almost replaces most Smith machines, a bench press rack, a squat rack, a weight tree, and, with a bench, can be used for presses, dumbells, or, without a bench, can be used for overhead presses and jerks at failure point.

A note for mature users: I am 54, and, after fracturing both shoulders I am slowly coming back to condition. For rehab, this machine is ideal. The safeties are very secure, and, it gives you the confidence to push through the pain, and, develop the muscles you need for support while healing.

This item gets and "excellent" from me all the way around. . . .

PowerLine PPR200X Power Rack Review

I didn't get mine from Amazon (I ordered it from Jesup Gym), but I thought I'd review it here. This is a nice rack for us non-supermen that aren't moving stacks of 45's every day. I would have no fear putting 300 to 500 pounds on it, but if I were lifting much more than that, I'd probably shop for a stronger rack (maybe one day). Anyway, since there aren't really any instructions (just an exploded drawing) I'll offer my suggestions on assembly.

The way I assembled it was to put the bottom 3 pieces together first (put the feet and plastic parts on now), then add the rear uprights, then the top back piece, then a front upright and top side piece, repeat for other side, then chin bar. Snug the bolts at first, then tighten them all when it's all assembled. Get them good and tight but don't over tighten because the tubing will start to bend in with a lot of force. You'll need two 3/4" wrenches (a socket wrench and spanner work best). This worked well for me doing it by myself and took about 45 minutes including opening the boxes and laying out the parts.

This rack comes in 3 boxes and can be shipped via a regular carrier. This might be nice to know for those who don't live where a freight carrier can easily get to you. Anyway, this rack, a bench, and a 300 pound set can take you a long way. Add some dumbbells and you'll have a nice little home gym.

BodyCraft Jones Light Commercial with 7-Foot 45-Pound Steel Power Bar Review

Design makes it better than a smith and better than a power rack. Solid construction - feels like a commercial machine found in a gym. It would be nice if the uprights had some built-in weight racks. Great for solo lifting but don't get carried away, be sensible.

Product Description:
Combining the versatility of a power rack with the safety of a Smith machine, the BodyCraft Jones is ideal for the solo lifter. Unlike traditional power racks, the Jones offers a 45-pound steel power bar that "racks" into place with a simple twist of the wrist. As a result, lifters don't need a spotter to perform squats, bench presses, or shoulder presses, as the Jones acts as a self-spotter instead. Users can even add adjustable safety spotters for that extra measure of security. Lifters will also appreciate the unit's patented 3D barbell motion, which provides for an almost unlimited array of exercises. By engaging the spring pins along the bottom, lifters can lock the Jones into place at three different positions: front, middle, or rear. This allows for traditional Smith machine exercises without requiring an actual Smith machine. Plus, setting up for the next exercise has never been easier--just raise or lower the bar to the desired starting position, add the desired weight, and lift.
The Jones is constructed of tough 11-gauge steel, with moving parts that glide smoothly on industrial-grade linear bearings and solid hardened steel guide rods. The steel bar, meanwhile, offers a total capacity of 1,000 pounds, making it suitable for heavy lifters. And at 42 by 83 by 54.5 inches (W x H x D), the Jones doesn't take up a ton of space. Ideal for both novice and competitive lifters, the Jones carries different warranties depending on your intended use. Light commercial users will enjoy a two-year warranty on parts and a 10-year warranty on the frame, while residential users will enjoy a lifetime warranty.

BodyCraft F430 Power Rack Review

BodyCraft F430 Power Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, excuse my english, I'm from Denmark and don't have time to use a dictonary.
I have owned a bodycraft powerrack for over 1 year. Me and my brother trains 3 times pr. week (full body program).
This powerrack is realy good. The only thing that I don't like about the powerrack is that it is not heigh enough soo that we can perform standing militarypress inside the powerrack. Besides that everything else is just perfect. The powerrack seems solid enough (we dont train that heavy - benchpress 110 kg, ca. 220 lb). there is plenty of space inside the rack, which is a big advantage. I really have only good things to say about this powerrack, except for the lack of posibility to perform standing militarypress inside the rack. It is very easy and fast to change the height of both the spotters and the safepins, which also is a very big advantage. You do also dont need the space that is required for at powerrack where you pull the saftypins out.
Please don't by the cable attachment. I havent got it my self/so I really don't know. But I seriously doubt that there is place to put your bench,to have a spotter (traningspartner) and so on if you include anything else than the powerrack.
But remember to buy the dip sticks. I'm really glad that I included them when I bought the rack.
All you need to train hardcore is this bodycraft powerrack, a really solid bench with leg curl attachment, a good olympic set, a set of dumbells where you can change the weight, a belt where you can hang barbells and a stepbench.
If I should buy another powerrack, I would for sure buy this one again, becourse now I know that this rack is really good.
It is a very good idea to draw on your powerrack (write the names of the diffrent exercises on the rack the right places), soo that you can find vhere the saftypins etc is going to be acording to the difrent exercises, this will save you a lot of time.
This powerrack rocks. Besides the lack of height inside the rack, everything else is just perfect.Me and my brother really love to work out in this perfect piece of equipment. P.s. I havent done any real testing of the strenght of the powerrack (I dont toss around the bar or weights), and we havent lost the grip on the bar jet. sooreally don't know how solid this powerrack really is. But for over a year me and my brother have trained really hard on the rack, and the rack still looks and feels like new. So if you dont lift extreme heavy or throw around with the bar, then I don't think that the rack will ever break.

Caribou III System - Includes Caribou Power / Smith Rack / Lat Attachment / Workout Bench Review

Caribou III System - Includes Caribou Power / Smith Rack / Lat Attachment / Workout Bench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased this system through Amazon.I work out at home in the AM before work.I was looking for a Smith machine so that I could lift heavy in the basement without the danger presented by free weights w/o a spotter. You'll find Smith machines cheaper than the Caribou, but they fit in the category of "home gym" equipment.Commercial machines are generally a lot more expensive than the Caribou.I settled on Caribou because of the solid construction and flexibility to add on features later as my needs demand (such as a pec deck, cable cross, dip station).

The system delivers in 5 boxes weighing 485# (2 or 3 are more than 100#).I broke the heavy boxes down before taking the equipment to the basement. There are a lot of parts. This is not a hard machine to assemble, but it took me 2.5 hours by myself. (I'm handy. Two people would have made the job a little easier, but this is not hard to put together alone.)

The system is solid.300# is easily handled.I don't have need for more, but I'd bet another 200# is well within the range of this system.

My only complaint is that the system is a little small. You cannot use the supplied bench with the back upright to support shoulder presses (the bench cannot slide deeply enough into the rack to do that).I do shoulder presses without the bench back raised. The lat pull down and chinning bar are also lower than I'd like (I'm 6'2").But I compensate by doing pull downs kneeling on the floor and chinning with legs bent 90 degrees at the knees.Frankly, a bigger machine would have a hard time fitting into a home, so I think this is why the dimensions are what they are.(This is the reason for four vice five stars.)However, for bench presses and squats, this is a full sized olympic system.

Finally, this system doesn't come with weights.I recommend you either buy these used off eBay/Craigs List or look for a deal at Sports Authority. The money you pay to deliver the weights will probably exceed the cost of the weights themselves.(I got a 300# set including an olympic bar for $140 from Sports Authority.Beat that if you can!)

If you're serious about getting/staying in shape at home, you cannot go wrong with this system.

Yukon Fitness Caribou III Package with Cable Crossover CPKG-CCO Review

Yukon Fitness Caribou III Package with Cable Crossover CPKG-CCO
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this home gym because I can't always find time to go to the gym. The Caribou will let me do all the exercises I normally do while I'm there with out the travel time to and from and playing the waiting game for a machine. I'll start off by saying that the CPKG-CCO, with weight stack and 300 lb Olympic weight set, is a solid piece of equipment. Comes with and will handle more than enough weight to push me and my family to our limits. It takes some time to put together, but goes up easily with two people. The directions are clear and simple to follow. Just listen when the directions say not to tighten the bolts until instructed to do so and you'll be good to go. The problems come in to play when you look at the manufacturing. For the price, I would expect better attention to detail. First, the Smith and weight stack rods are not smooth. They need to be polished and lubricated with a dry lube. Other wise the action is jerky or worse yet, the weights stick in the middle of a lift. Next is the pec-dec. There are a few problems with this area. The cable for the pec-dec is too long and allows too much play in the fly arms. The seat for the pec-dec attaches to the seat bracket about 3/4 of an inch too low. This causes the seat to rub on the mounting bracket when the seat is raised and lowered in and out of use. I've had my gym for two days and the mounting bracket is already starting to tear the seat cushion. The pec-dec seat is in the way almost any time the lower lat is used. This makes the cable cross over useless since it attaches to the lower lat. Yukon fitness told me that they will send me a pin so I can remove the pec-dec seat when it's not in use. The horseshoe mount's right side is lower then the left side. This is the mount that holds the fly arms. The right fly arm on my gym is sitting lower then the left, so I checked the horseshoe mount with a level. The left and back sides are level and it's mounted square, but the right side slopes towards the front of the machine. On to the cable cross over. The only real problem here, besides the pec-dec seat getting in the way, is it came with five 3 1/2" pulleys when it was supposed to come with two 3 1/2" and three 4 1/2" pulleys. This makes for extra slack in the cable cross over's cables. Yukon Fitness told me to go ahead and use it this way. Now the FID Bench. The seat is mounted to a bracket by three bolts, two on the back and one on the front. The bolt on the front is mounted in a bad location. When the seat is lowered to the flt position, the bolt head rest on an adjustment bar and causes the seat to wobble when in use. I had to cut a section out of the adjustment bar so the bolt head would clear and allow the seat to rest in a stable location. The leg lift accommodates standard weights and does not come with an Olympic sleeve even though the rest of the gym uses Olympic weights.Last, the straight bar and the lat pull down bar don't have any adhesive holding the rubber grips tight. The grips tend to work loose or come off while you're trying to work out. In short, If you're willing to put some extra time and money in to this machine to fix all of the little flaws, when you're done you will have a great home gym that should last forever
